The legislator has established the Chamber of skilled crafts Cottbus in 1953 as an entity of the public law in order to carry out the tasks of self-administration in the field of trade & craft’s economy.

As a local organisation the Chamber of skilled crafts is looking after the interests of the member businesses upon all levels of social, political, and economical life:
Apart from the sovereign objectives as holding of exams, settlement of the vocational training, supervision of the District’s Trades and Guilds, appointment and swearing in of experts, recording of the Register of Craftsmen and of the Register of Apprentices, the chamber offers an extensive offer of training and further training as well as a wide range of services in the field of management consultancy and attendance.

The Trade Corporation District covers the Southern part of the State of Brandenburg. More than 9,000 businesses are currently active within the Trade Corporation District of Cottbus. The employees in trade & craft have reached the number of about 53,700 inclusive of the almost 4,500 registered apprenticeships.
